Recap Micro-Course: Sustainable Competences for Project Managers
Micro-Course Highlights the Growing Importance of Sustainable Competences in Project Management

A recent rapid Micro-course on Sustainable Competences for Project Managers, delivered through the IPMA – International Project Management Association, brought together project management professionals from around the world to explore the evolving role of sustainability in the profession.
The session (of which the slides can be downloaded here) focused on how sustainability-related frameworks such as CSRD, CSR, and ESG are increasingly shaping the expectations placed on project managers. Participants gained insight into the competences required to integrate environmental, social, and governance considerations into projects in a practical and value-driven manner.
The interactive format encouraged dialogue and knowledge exchange, resulting in a highly engaged audience and lively discussion. Despite minor technical challenges at the start of the session, the overall delivery and content were very positively received.
The micro-course was led by Peter Pürckhauer, Gilbert Silvius, Lana Lovrenčić Butković, and Sara Bossi, with support from Rebeka D. Vlahov, PhD. Their combined expertise played a key role in the success of the session and in highlighting the importance of sustainable competences within modern project management.
As Van Haren Group and Maurits van der Plas, we would like to thank all speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and active engagement throughout the session.
